Goats and Bees
So John went out to find out where goats were getting through to a neighbors property, and eating his grape vines and fruit trees, of course, and fix the hole in our fence. He took a couple t-posts and some fencing. Then he came back and announced he'd taken a Band-Aid for a trauma patient. Which makes the second major fence gap we've got to deal with, brought to our attention by the goats.
We took John out to lunch for Father's Day, per Logan's plan, then stopped off at the neighbor's on the way back to see about chasing goats home. John reappeared at the car carrying Sid Vicious, the bummer lamb, already getting in to trouble! The goats in question had departed at the first sign of the authority. After taking Sid home, we went back and investigated where they are coming through from the neighbors side and thinks we can fix it with a couple of fence panels and t-posts until we have time to do the fencing properly on our side. One thing made a little easier in the short term.
Then I stopped to use the bathroom at home. And found a dozen honey bees already there ahead of me. In our closed house. I went to fetch John figuring this was a bad time to find out how much my bee-sting-allergy-shots had done to the allergy, and whether I'd have to use the epi pen I carry with me or not. John has now removed a couple dozen from the house, and investigated the outside. There is a fine bee entrance in our shingles, with quite a few bees coming and going from it. Great.
I know what to do. And, thanks to Marilyn's swarm last year, I've captured swarms on a ladder last year. I've also removed a hive from the walls of a building. I just didn't plan to do both those on my own damn house. Keith, who is interested in bees now, will come and help me with them, Thursday or Friday, unless I call him back about doing it sooner, (appointments Tuesday and Wednesday, and something tomorrow... although maybe I could change it... as John makes a second trip to remove new bees from the bathroom!) (Either that or I shower in the cabin for a few days!)
That does explain why I was hearing buzzing sounds around the bedroom but not seeing anything that produced those sounds the other evening. Maybe I'll go see if I hear more of them now.
We were supposed to go to a potluck in Eugene last night, but it got canceled due to the hostess's allergic reaction to a hornet or yellow jacket sting. (I should call her.) So we went anyway to celebrate now only owning one house again, and kindergarten ending for the year, and to visit Karine and Aryana (whose name has several more letters than that which I know I'm leaving out, but not what they are) Ian and Jeff. Logan napped on the way and then chattered all the way home.
Logan: "what was that white thing the dentist put in your mouth?"
Last dentist appointment was a tooth cleaning that she didn't' attend, three weeks ago.
John and I "what white thing? Tooth paste?"
Logan: "Not toothpaste. It wasn't attached to anything."
Bafflement.
Me: "I don't know. I don't remember any white thing. Without more clues I don't think I can answer."
Logan: "Maybe the dentist will know, I'll ask him."
John: "That's a good idea."
Logan: "It looked like a marshmallow."
John: "sounds like cotton."
Logan "Why does he putt cotton in your mouth?"
Me: "Sometimes they put cotton between your cheek and teeth to make more space."
Logan: "What's a teetk?"
John: "she said Cheek."
Logan: "She said teek too. Between your cheek and teek."
John: "Between your Cheek and Teeth."
Logan: "But why did Penelope say teek?"
And it continued to dissolve from there. Oh the efforts of a tired five year old. Logan's dinner consisted of Edamame (green soy beans), quail egg sushi (raw quail eggs on top of rice wrapped in sea weed) one piece of my tempura vegetables, one piece of my tamago sushi (egg omelet on top of rice with a band of seaweed) and a bowl of rice with soy sauce. And lemonade. With much discussion and sniffing of John's fish sushi, and one salmon egg to feel and play with. Oh and a Pineapple Orange milk free sorbet cone at the playground with Karine's family for desert.

According to John, according to Ruzz, the blog fixing guy, there's going to be a move of the physical computer parts that hold the blog, and some of our email accounts, and Chocolate Alchemy, and who knows what else that isn't ours. So at some point web pages will be down for a bit -- probably measured in days, rather than hours or weeks, but don't hold your breath in either direction. You can still reach us through my main email, or the usual phone numbers, and so on. And provided it doesn't happen before I can remember to do it, I'll post a couple more Logan pictures before then too.
Yes, the post before this one just appeared with yesterday's date on it. I did it yesterday, but things were down, so it didn't show up until today.
What do you think?

Logan's first loose tooth is becoming looser and looser, and today, after showing Kyle, at Lorane Little School, Kyle noted she could see the new tooth growing in behind the old. We looked, and lo and behold, not one but two new teeth are visible!

two new tooths
Actually holding still (with John's help) to have the picture taken, and holding her mouth open to not hide the teeth was quite a trick.
Rose Kindergarten at Eugene Waldorf finished for the year yesterday (for those of you not up to date, due to Logan's late fall birthday, she'll still have another year at Rose Kindergarten, which she looks forward to greatly,) with ceremony for the six children moving up into first grade next year, and reminders for the others that next year they'll be the "big ones" who know how the kindergarten works and are teaching the new children who are just beginning.
I'll write more, in time, the last couple weeks of school were quite a roller coaster ride, in many ways more for the adults than for the Logan sized children. Seeing the 8th grade graduates, and the other grades perform at the final assembly really impressed both John and me, and John is hoping to volunteer more time next year to the school in general as well.

everything should be up and working now

Noted, comments here appear to work.
Email accounts via you are still down, except the CA ones.
[Mon 17:22] BBT = Bad news ~
stop investing in them and use a tool that will keep you online...

i think people who are too cowardly to use their names = bad news.
i further think people should check their facts. No other blog tool in existence has the uptime record bbt does over the past 5 years.
lastly, i think people should use their heads a bit for thinking, less for banging them into solid objects. The issue here precluded bbt being down and is entirely unrelated to bbt.

Go Ruzz! I'm not at all happy with people to rude or cowerdly to use their names using my blog to bash Big Blog Tool. I just spent some time yesterday trying to explain how I'd found it and how it differed from other blog support programs - especially at that time. These days I don't even know, when I look at the others, I see nothing I want to bother switching for.

Well, it's been three weeks since this post - I hope you got the bees out safely. Were they yours? I've been meaning to mention that I reliquified the yummy honey you gave us. Putting it in a simmering water bath did wonders, and I was able to pour the honey into shorter containers. Has Logan lost her tooth? Teeth? I've never known anyone to have the new ones in before the old ones are out - what a neat picture! I've never thought of what parents do with the old teeth. It does seem macabre to keep them, and yet callous to throw them out. Perhaps they could be planted with a favorite perennial flower or tree? I always cherished the tooth pillow my grandmother made for me, and used it for all my baby teeth. It was a small pillow with a lace pocket to keep the tooth the night it was "lost". And then of course, a quarter was in it's place in the morning. I think I still have it some where, in a box. I like the idea of the Sacajawea coin for today. Andrea
