Geodesic Dome, front

Side, & back door (way left)

Knock on wood everyone, we've started the process of buying this house. If all goes well we'll be moving about four miles east of where we are now, although it takes a ten mile drive to get from point A to point B. Our mail address and phone number probably won't change at all, just our physical address. The Dome is on 33 acres, and is a good bit larger than where we're living now, with the possibility of building on more eventually. And there are several barns and outbuildings also on the property. And a stream. And I negotiated for a sheep watching Llama (their friend Fernando) to come along with the deal too.

The folks selling the place are only moving a few miles a way, to a few acres close in town, so they'll be available to tell us how they did things. And they are good people. Now I just hope selling Year And A Day goes as smoothly.

I know you're all still waiting for Florida pictures. I'll see what I can do about that soon. Logan's been on her own schedule, which has involved getting up early, staying up late, and taking very short naps. That has added up to no down time for me. So I haven't forgotten, but I haven't had the chance to edit pictures enough to post any. Oh, and I need to get people's permission still. Details, details.

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday Dear Sister
Happy Birthday to you!

I haven't started our birthday socks yet, but soon. Well, sooner if Logan lets me do some knitting. I guess I should ask before I stick a picture of you here. But Threadbearfiberarts.com/images/ribtips.pdf" title="Rib Tip Socks">here's a link to a version of the socks in the same yarn I'll be using. I don't know if the patterning will be quite the same it varies from one skein to another.

I hope it's a really great birthday and that you get to do things you enjoy.

Hey, comments from My Aunt Jane, and from My Sister In Law, Phil. Hello to both of you! And the system didn't bother to tell me Phil had left a comment. I guess I'll have to make it three people who read this page instead of two now. :-)

It's been a hectic week - Logan didn't adjust to Florida time, but she's not quite on Oregon time either. And over all she's tired and grumpy. I've got a ton of pictures, I just need to get a chance to post them. I need to phone all the folks with kids whose pictures I took with Logan - mostly Allyson and Amber I think, oh, and Ryan, Alan and Peg's son, to see if they mind their kids pictures being put here. And I started trying to put pictures in one of those web photo album things, so any of you could look at them or order prints of them. The first one I tried, Ofoto, didn't work. And I haven't tried again. Maybe today, if nap time continues a little longer.

Hello All. As you can read, we've survived our trip to Florida to see family, family, more family, a couple friends, and some family. John or I will try to write something resembling a trip report sometime, so that both of you who are reading can see all the excitement we had. For now I'm just saying we're back. Logan wore her Nel'pe (mum) Made sweater on the trip from home to the airport, and briefly at the airport before we came home again. Otherwise it was too hot for sweaters. Yesterday it was 45 to 55 degrees Farenheight when we got home (as reported by our pilot), it felt plenty warm in the sun, but more chilly in the shadows. We saw hale as we ate lunch, and drove between rain and sun coming home. It was chilly enough for a fire last night. Then it got up to around 70 this afternoon. And they are forcasting frost overnight. The weather can't make up its mind, but I like it. All our animals are doing well, and some of my bees are exploading. I moved their hives around today to try to balance out the big hive and the little hive. John and I will have to build some more bee boxes soon. We have humming birds at our feeder, flowers blooming everywhere, and grass taller than Logan in the places the goats and sheep can't reach it. Sorry Florida Folks, it was fun to visit you, but I'm not moving back. Come and visit me!

Ok, I am finally making some progress again. I have the wiring "board" done everything ready for when I get the heating coil insulators built, the front panel drilled for the various switches and lights and everything hooked up.wiring

I also have the roast chamber mounted (thanks much John Kangas) and waiting to be bolted in.rc

The drum fits rather nicely and I just need to get the rollers in.

Finally, just another front shot. Hopefully in a couple weeks of so, the front panel with all the switches and lights will be on.

Little by little. Stay tuned...off to Florida.

Yesterday we took Sparky to meet his potential new family, and after some time getting to know everyone he went home with them! John, Logan and I continued on errands dog-free (we left Sunny at home for the day to simplify our day), and got home to a much quieter house. In celebration of Sparky's new home and family we let Sunny out and left the door open, left socks and stuffed toys on the floor, and didn't leap to catch inedible items as soon as they fell toward the floor. Sparky was a beautiful and fun dog, but he was in need of more attention than I have available at the moment. I'm glad he was always a temporary pet (foster-dog) for us, and I hope he is adjusting well to his new people. And that he isn't educating them too quickly about what sort of thing he's willing to swallow.

On the road, off and on, I nearly finished Logan's sweater. After consulting with my mom, I'm doing the edging the way Elizabeth Zimmerman suggests, and have done all three button holes the way she suggested too. I think I like how it looks. I'm waiting to take a picture until I get it off the needles, which will be later today, I hope. We've got an exciting day of housecleaning, and probably a couple more errends.

Bee HivesThis week has been very hectic. In the midst of it all, I got the notice I could pick up my two packages of bees. So now I have two beginning hives down the hill from the house. Logan and I and sometimes John are checking on them, and refilling their sugar suryp daily, for the time being. John has helped around the edges, doing parts of the hive building, and fixing my bee feeder so it didn't drip, (the hive was not level enough), but I get to do the hands on bee things. So far so good. Logan likes the bees, and is doing very well around them. I'm going to make her a veil of her own, but haven't paused to catch my breath yet. She goes with me to check them and would like to hold them, but so far none have chosen to land on her.
